And why do I have impression that all these patches slow down my Win XP,
when Vista gets a bit faster with SP1 RC?

the thing about Vista is pretty simple, it was made (not to well) for high
end machines.
I've had it running on a quad core with 3 gig of ram and a 8600gts card and
it flies.

I still run xp because I just don't like Vista.

Had you use "Win XP and Win Vista SP1 RC" instead your "machine"
or "coffee grinder" - result of your experience might be different...-
