Microsoft Photo Story 3

Tony Sutton

Not sure where to post this so sorry if this is the wrong place.

Does anyone know if Microsoft Photo Story 3 is trying to communicate with
the Internet at every launch of the software?

We have a proxy server and everytime I launch it, it doesn't load up. When I
ran TCPViewer, it was trying to connect to our proxy server. When I right
click it & select "End Connection", Microsoft Photo Story 3 loaded up OK.

So it looks like it was trying to connect to the Internet for some reasons...

Questions:

1) What is it trying to do?
2) How do I disable it?
3) Or a workaround?

If this is the wrong place to ask, can you please tell me where I should
post this?

Thanks all,

Tony

Unusual situation but I don't think PS3 tries
to access the net...at least not on my system.

Why not uninstall PhotoStory 3 and see what
happens?

You can download a new copy of PS3 from
the following site and reinstall it if you wish.

The only thing I can think of it that it is checking for updates...

Thanks for the reply, John. But I am already using the latest version. And
yes, I have tried reinstalling but it doesn't make any difference.

I also noticed that someone else had the same problem:

So I am not alone with this problem.

Thanks,

Tony

Just a thought..but have you tried disconnecting from your internet
connection..just to see what happens..no one needs to be connected ALL
the time.

Not possible... we are using networked PCs with 'always on' Internet access.

But thanks for the reply. I guess I could see if I can get the ISA server to
accept it via the proxy server somehow.

All sorted.

The problem was that the application isn’t picking up the username (for the
proxy server), it logs it as anonymous...

So it sounds like a bug with Photo Story.

Hope this is of help with other people!

Thanks for the update.

Were you able to prevent the issue
and how did you accomplish it?
