When I turn on my computer I get a box that says enter a
Microsoft Password. Do I need a password? Do I have one a
password? Where do I get a password? Or should I just kep
hitting cancel like I do now.

If you are hitting cancel to get into the system you are not running Windows
2000, which means you won't get the best advice available in this group as
this is for windows 2000. Are you running Windows ME instead? A lot of
people get that and Windows 2000 mixed up for some reason.

Having said that, we're assuming this is the login box that comes up before
you can get to your desktop yes? If so, then the choice of a password is up
to you, it doesn't add much security to windows 95/98/ME, but it allows you
to have your own customised desktop and suchlike.

Of course, if you are certain you are running windows 2000 and this is
something that comes up after you are at the desktop, then thats another
thing entirely.
