Microsoft Outlook 2003

When I try and open Microsoft Office Outlook, I am told:



"Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Unable to open the Outlook window.
The set of folders could not be opened. The server is not available. Contact
your administrator if this condition persists."



I have reinstalled Outlook but problem remains



Any advice much appreciated

Have you configured your mail account? (Control Panel, Mail icon.)

yes i have. when i click on OUtlook it doesnt open at all.

Two possibilities:
- try to open Outlook in Safe Mode (Start -> Run -> Outlook /safe)
- try tunning the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst) against your PST file
