Microsoft Optical Mouse Light on after system shutdown

O

(^o^)

I have a microsoft optical mouse connected to my Asus P4B.

The red light is still on even I have shutdown my P4B on Windows 98.

Is there any BIOS setting which can turn off the red light of the mouse
after shutdown ?

Try experimenting with the three pin header and jumper called "KBPWR".
It is located in the lower right hand corner of the board (near the
PANEL header, where you connect the front panel stuff).

I think both the PS/2 mouse and keyboard are controlled by this header.
If the header is set to +5VSB, then both the keyboard and mouse get power
after Windows is shutdown. This is useful if you have some option set up
to wake the computer on keyboard input, for example.

If you don't ever expect to wake the computer via keyboard, then
change the KBPWR jumper to the +5V setting. The +5V only runs
when you boot the computer, so after Windows shutdown, I would expect
both the keyboard and the mouse to be unpowered via this +5V
KBPWR selection.

Moving the jumper from its current position to the alternate position
should be enough to fix it...

HTH,
Paul
