Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 freezes & does not respond...

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Outlook freezes up and does not
respond to any commands if left open for any amount of time, it can freeze up
when receiving, when switching between folders or when creating new mail.
The only way to reopen or send mail is to restart the whole computer, as I'm
not even able to close down the program manually. I've uninstalled and
reinstalled the whole program, yet this has not fixed the problem either.
And I've installed the whole computer from Day 1. Yet nothing helps. Please
Help! AAARGHHH!

In my observation this problem is related to some fundemental problems
outlook's thread handler has. I have no add-ins and get that behavior often.
Outlook will generally unlock after it is done with its thread - which in all
cases for me has been the automatic send/receive function. It appears that if
any problem arises with a send/receive thread, the thread locks up that
function, causing Outlook to have these long pauses and stops all
inbound/outbound mail. In my case a hidden Outlook process never gets
shutdown when Outlook is exited, which to the regular user would necessitate
a reboot to fix, but aborting the process in task manager works.

I've been having the same problem, I'll use the Task Manager to close down
Outlook, I then restart the program, but it constantly shuts when not in use
 
Same problem here. I thought it just wasn't coping with my multiple IMAP
accounts, so I split them in to 2 profiles. Now I'm finding I can't close
Outlook to switch profiles, even after I file/exit it sits running in the
background and I have to end process to be able to start it up again in the
other profile.

I had similar problems with earlier versions of Outlook. Anyone know of any
good email clients that can cope will with about a dozen separate IMAP
accounts at the same time, some with 100MB+ of mail?
