When using Word or Excell I can only save files to "My Documents" if the
Norton Firewall is on. If I try to save the file anywhere else the screen
freezes and I must get out of word or excell. If I do the same thing with
Norton Firewall disabled I can save my documents anywhere I want to. Any
ideas as to why????
Thanks for any help you can give.

Thanks but how do I find the Office plugin and how would I disable it? Where
is the Office plugin located on my PC. Sorry for sounding so helpless but I
can not seem to find Office plugin. Thanks
Larry

Its in the Options / Config section of NIS, I cannot remember exactly where
as I dumped NIS some time ago after too many problems with it (I had
prev.used Norton products for 10 yrs without probs)

Thanks for the help. I disabled Office Plugin and it now works (sort of).
Now I can save my work anwhere on my machine without disableing the firewall.
But when I first click the dropdown menu to save somewhere other than My
Documents I get a Not Responding message for about 30 seconds. Then the
hourglass disappears and I can use the dropdown menu to save my work
anywhere. So it seems to be working except that it takes a long time save
the work anywhere other than in the My Documents folder.
Thanks again for your help

I would recommend you note DL's comment about dumping NIS more
closely. I mirror his experience. Symantec seems to ruin everything
it touches, and I also have dumped all my Symantec products (well, all
except for Ghost 2003, which remains outstanding) as they have just
become too intrusive and finicky and slow and caused innumerable
problems with my system. I'm very happy with Avast! and its Outlook
plug-in actually works.....with or without firewalls.

Thank both of you for your help.
