Microsoft .net framework fails to install

I use Windows Update and it usually runs smooth.
But, I am getting a failed installation for the Microsft .net 2.0 framework
(KB110806). I looked at some of the other posts on this forum and still
can't figure out the problem. Can anyone help?

What has worked for me in the past is using this tool:

First, attempt to uninstall the framework via add or remove programs. If
that succeeds, reinstall it, and then attempt the update.

If you get a failure somewhere in that process, read what Aaron writes about
his tool, and try it--it has worked for me.

After using the uninstall tool, you must again download the framework, and
then the patches--go back to WU multiple times until nothing further is
offered on an express scan.
