CANNOT INSTALL UPDATES !

WINDOWS UPDATE KEEPS DOWNLOADING AND FAILING TO INSTALL THE FOLLOWING
UPDATES:

Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0 service pack 1 (KB110806)
Microsoft. NET Framework 3.0 service pack 1 (KB929300)

However, when I looked at my update history, these 2 updates had already
been installed 3 days ago. Why cant windows detect this fact and stop
trying to update?

Please advise how I can correct this situation.

I had to use windows install clean up to remove both NET framework 2 and 3
before the updates were allowed to be downloaded and installed Everything
is OK now.
