Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 fails to install

I have attempted to install from windows update and have failed 4 or 5 times
with Error Code: 0xE0434F4D . Running Windows XP SP2
NIS 2007
NSW 2006

Any thoughts on what to try?

Download dotnetfx from MS and run it

I actually found "How to troubleshoot Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 installation issues" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824643/ that helped me blow away 1.1 and then downloaded and ran dotnexfx. The update then installed properly.
