Microsoft Internet Explorer - 1

From time to time while online I get a box that pops up. The bar on the top
of it says "Microsoft Internet Explorer." In the box, all it says is "1". I
have to click OK to continue. It doesn't appear to interfere with anything,
other than being a slight annoyance and really kind of laughter inspiring.
Can anyone tell me what this is?
 
Most likely a virus or spyware. Not something to inspire laughter.
