Many people have reported similar questionable advertising pop-ups with
the "Messenger Service" facility. Note that this has nothing to do with
either MSN, Live or Windows Instant "Messenger". That type of pop-up
results from the misuse of a LAN administrator service (for announcing
things like impending print server maintenance shutdowns) that shouldn't
even be available for senders beyond your dial up or broadband modem.

I'm not familiar with Panda. I have read recommendations that while you
should restrict to a single background anti-ad/anti-spyware application,
there is value in occasionally running a foreground scan with a second
anti-adware/anti-spyware scanner. I use Spybot Search and Destroy and
Ad-Aware myself.

In addition to anti-spyware you may want to do an
anti-virus/anti-Trojan/anti/worm scan AND check web port vulnerabilities.

There are multiple resources for both, some of which are free.

Free Anti-Virus scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

Go to Gibson Research Corp. at http://www.grc.com after the page changes
scroll down to the "Hot Spots" section and click the "Shields Up!" link
to run a port/firewall check with associated descriptions of recommended
port blocking.

That message is itself from malware. Do NOT download that program.
Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
