microsoft explorer slow

Following virus cleanup and installing XP pro over xp home, I have 2 problem:
1. MS Explorer is very slow. Other MS and other programs are OK as is
internet explorer. Slow also is Rt click on files or Save As in any
application.
2. MS Outlook 2002 has Contacts, but cannot access them while creating an
email. Have unsuccessfully tried:, Right click on your contacts folder, click
‘Properties’, click Outlook Address Book TAB, TICK Show in outlook address
book.
