Control Panel->Mail Icon->Accounts->View Or Change. Remove the Exchange Account (why did you specify one when you knew you did not use one?) and then install your POP3 or IMAP account.

This means that there is a Microsoft Exchange Server account set up in your
profile. If you are a home/small office user and do not have a Microsoft
Exchange Server that you're connecting to using Outlook, then the way to fix
it is to remove the account from your profile (Tools -> Email Accounts ->
View or change existing e-mail accounts).

If you do have an Exchange Server that you communicate with, contact your
mail administrator.

If you cannot delete the Exchange Server service from your existing profile,
you need to create a whole new profile that only contains the POP3/SMTP (or
IMAP) service, 'Control Panel|Mail|Show Profiles|Add'. Once you've created
this new profile, click the existing profile (which has the Exchange Server
service that you can't delete), and click the "Remove" button. This will
delete the Exchange Server service by removing the profile that contains it.
