Microsoft code - has bug?????

Hi,
I posted this before with no results. I would really like to resolve this
problem so I'm trying again.

I created a mailing label DB and used the code for "HOW TO: Skip Used
Mailing Labels and Print Duplicates in Access 2000" obtained from Microsoft
site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/231801

It all worked great until I placed a sheet of labels (1X2 5/8, 30/sheet)
with 28 missing labels and one full sheet in the printer. I wanted to print
4 copies of one label. When I was promped by the program I entered 28
missing labels and 4 copies. The program went hog wild and wanted to print
page after page of 28 blank labels and two copies of my label at the bottom
of every page.

I don't quite understand the code I received from microsoft, but I tried
many things that I thought might correct the problem with no results. Has
anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix??????

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Phil,

I use this code and have never had a problem, so I don't THINK it's the
code. How is your report set-up, specifically as it relates to 4 thru 6 in
the instructions? Also, try entering 30 labels with 1 copy and when the
preview comes up see if there are 30 labels on the page (it might be a
margin issue).

Hi Gina,

Thanks for your reply. 30 labels and 1 copy works just fine and my 4-6 is
as stated. Have you tried to skip 28 labels and print 4 copies of one label.
I would like to know if yours works under that conditions. I too have used
the code for a long time with no problems until this came up.
Thanks,

Yes that is why I was wondering if it was the report set-up. (I actually
tried it before I replied to you) What version of Access? I am using it XP
and 2003.

I believe this is the same code I have in my system and I have not
experienced any issues. Note that the prompt for number of copies is for the
number of labels you want printed - if you are skipping 28 labels and want 4
copies, then the last two labels on your page will have data and the FIRST
two labels of the second page will have data (assuming you are using Avery
5160 or the 30 per page equivalent).

Did you make any modifications to the code? In generating the report, are
you using an Access wizard-generated command button, or did you code the
command button yourself (if so, anything unusual that you should post the
code)?

Thanks again,

I'm using Access 2000 on Vista Home. Maybe it's a Vista problem. I also
discovered that if I select 10 people for labels and want 4 copies of each
that the last person to print on the first page has 2 labels and then they
get 4 labels on the second page.

I never noticed a problem until I got my Vista computer...........

Hi,
Thanks for you reply.

I used the lable wizard to create the report and then added the code for
detail, header, etc. I also used the wizard to create the command button.
I'm using Access 2000 and just switched over to Vista and I think there may
be a confilct. If you look at my reply to Gina I have noticed other problems
also.

Thanks,

Access 2000 on Vista? ooohhh....that doesn't sound good - I hope the MVPs
will pipe in on that.

You know, I have a machine in here with Vista (and I have arlic hanging over
it) but the machine I have my databases on is Windows XP. Though I don't
see how Vista could interfere with this code but who knows. Do you have a
machine with XP that you could test your theory on?
