Microsoft clarifies Vista activation to bit-tech hacks

Did you try booting into Safe Mode Edgar to see if you are able to access
the system? Rule of Thumb, never install beta software even software like
Vista which is close to RTM in production environments.

As always, this discussion fails to mention what (for me) is the major
difference from the retail version of XP, which could be transferred any
number of times to a completely different machine, provided it was only
installed on one machine at a time. Vista retail can only be transferred
to a different machine once.

On XP, the issue of what constituted a different machine was only
relevant to the OEM version.
