Microsoft says it’s looking into how the Troj/BankAsh-A trojan may be attacking
Microsoft’s beta anti-spyware program, as well as users of UK online banks.

The trojan disables Microsoft AntiSpyware, suppresses warning messages and
lifts passwords and online banking passwords from Windows users.

Stephen Toulouse, a Microsoft security program manager, told the Seattle
Post-Intelligencer a user would have to open an e-mail attachment to start the
program and that users who believe they might be attacked should use antivirus
software.

It might soon be a case of ‘Physician, heal thyself’ as Microsoft embarks on
the anti-virus war-path on its own behalf, to the serious discomfort of various
security firms.
