Microsoft Anti-Spyware

I used Microsoft Anti-Spyware to block start-up items. In four minutes,
Micorosoft Anti-Spyware allows these start up programs to start up. I don't
want them to start. That is why I blocked them. Why is Microsoft Anti-Spyware
allowing them to start. Does Microsoft have arrangements with these
companies? How can microsoft determine if these are programs that are safe
for my computer or safe for me to use. That is for me to determine. It seems
Microsoft wants me to accetp these startups whethere I want to or not. How do
I stop this?

Better tell us what the items are.

I can interpret this message two ways:

1) you may be trying to block something which gets a green-flag pass (i.e.
the popup for the installation is green--indicating that Microsoft has
certified the product to be spyware-free.)

In this case, you are asking Microsoft Antispyware to do something it isn't
designed to do. You can uninstall such a product yourself. Microsoft
Antispyware isn't designed to uninstall or interfere with the processes of
products that don't transgress the specific boundaries that are set by
Microsoft to define programs Microsoft Antispyware will remove:

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/isv/analysis.mspx

2) (and I think this is more likely what you are posting about.) You've
cleaned a threat which was found by Microsoft Antispyware on a scan, but the
threat comes back immediately.

Microsoft Antispyware isn't "giving a pass" to the software involved
here--it simply isn't doing the job successfully of removing it.

Options: 1) update your antivirus and Microsoft antispyware, restart
Windows in safe mode (by pressing the f8 function key before the first
Windows screen appears) and scan with both Microsoft Antispyware (full, deep
scan) and your antivirus program, until a complete scan with each comes
through clean.

2) If this doesn't do the job--you need more help--an alternative
antispyware may help--Ewido, Lavasoft's Ad-Aware, Spybot Search &
Destroy--or, perhaps, a specialized root-kit finder such as Sysinternals
RootkitRevealer, or F-secure's Blacklight beta product.

Hi Gledba,
If you go into the start menu I am sure you will find the items you are
concerned about.
If you remove them it should resolve your situation.

You Can Always Stop StartUp Programs By going To Start/Run And Typing in
MsConfig, Then Click the Startup Tab. Just UnCheck Programs you are not sure
about.. Thats Wut i do,When i Get Someone on my System i do not want running
and i cant delete, but i have not had to do that since i put a Fresh copy of
Xp on my system and installed Microsoft anti spy, Works Great "As long as you
do not allow anti spy to run a program you are not sure about"

Some one asked me "what the items are?" it really does not matter. I asked
for them to be stopped. They are normal programs such as Real Player, Quick
Time, LogMeIn, etc. These are normal programs. i just do not want them to
start up when i turn on my computer. And yes I have removed them from start
up. Yet, Microsoft Anti-Spyware lets them startup once I open them to use.
Are you telling me that if I use a program that Microsoft assumes that i want
it to start up? I do not want these programs to start unless I want to use
them. They take a lot of memory even with a 1024.

Microsoft Antispyware will help you with programs that transgress the
boundaries which are defined in the paper that I linked to in the earlier
reply.

It isn't a general purpose uninstaller or blocker.
