hi, i have plugged in my working microphone, but when I go on to messenger or
try to do voice recording, no sound is heard.
I went into control panel and there is only an option there for me to have
audio outcoming, not incoming, so I cant get my mic to be recognised on my pc.
Can anyone help me out please?
Much appreciated.

right click that little speaker icon on the bottom right corner of the task
bar next to your clock.open the volume control, make sure your line in
(assuming you plugged it in to the LINE IN jack ) is not muted. also make
sure the volume is up. if you are trying to use it in messenger you need also
to set it up specifically for messenger. it has the option to do so....
tools\audio video tuning wizard.

Thanks for your help, as I didnt know about msn having the tools wizard.
Howver, things are still not working as they should. My line is is ok and I
have the volume up, and if I speak into the mic, I can hear some noise coming
from my speakers, but the mic still wont' work on msn or on the entertainment
programme recorder.I try to record my voice, but it's not recognized at all.
When I had windows 98 on my previous computer, I didn't have any such
problems.
I now have windows xp home edition.
I heard somewhere that windows xp home edition, does not come with any
speech recognition programmes installed and they need to be
installed/downloaded from winodws office xp sites. But I only want to use my
microphone to talk to friends.
So would I need to install a speech recognition programme just for this?
On my options, I have audio output only, with text to speech options, but no
tab for speech recognition and audio input in the control panel under speech,
which made me wonder if my computer is missing a programme for microphone
using.
