Microphone

Hasn't everyone got the message, there is something wrong with microsoft winxp, it does not allow headset witn microphone to be used. However, I did get my logitech clicksmart 510 microphone to work and the sound works great. But this does not allow me to use a headset with mic. So everyones problem is microsoft itself. Start yelling at them to fix the problem.

I would have to disagree. I use a headset mic regularly on this very
laptop with Windows XP, never had the first lick of trouble out of it.
Didn't have to load drivers, didn't have to buy nothing fancy. Maybe try
looking at the hardware of your system, not the software...

No, I believe you are incorrect cause a laptop somehow works different than a desktop. I say this because a desktop has many other things connected at the same time. Do you have your camera with mic attached. If you did then that is where the conflict will being.

I use a headset/microphone regularly with my desktop Windows XP system,
never have any problems. I also have a Logitech Pro 4000 webcam hooked up,
no problems there either. Are you sure you have the headset plugs in the
proper jacks?

Maybe we did not get the news, because it is not true. It works fine
for me. Maybe you should not be blaming MS and XP and start looking to why
it does not work for you.

Greetings Mr. Sims:
Yes, I do have the headset with mic connected to the proper settings/outlets, but every time I try to connect using headset w/mic I get disconnected or I should say mic does not work. Let me help clarify my problem, I am using a Nvidia nForce sound card whidh is intergrated on motherboard. In the advanced controls for the mic the Tone controls for bass, and treble are set to low and connot be highlighted for adjustment. I am coming around that maybe I have something set wrong. But what is the question!!!

In your volume control panel, under "Options">"Properties", is your
setting set on "Recording", and is the appropriate device(your sound card)
showing in the "Mixer Device" drop down menu? Also, under "Options", click
on "Advanced Controls", and make sure microphone volume is up, and "Mute"
is unchecked. Hope this helps.

Greeting's Blueberri:
I will try to help you since your name is Blue.....,. Go to Microsoft update and find the MicroSoft Speech SDK 4.0 application. It will help in checking your microphone and record volume levels. It will make sure that the speech regognition will actually hear what you're saying. Also helps for the telephone. This is Bluedog and I approve of this message.
