microphone problems

Hi all
I have this problem with the microphone. My sound card
works fine but i can't use the microphone. Everything i
tried didn't work.
I'm trying to use the speak abiliti in counter stike and
DOD and i can't.
I have the same problem in two machines both with W2K SP4.
Any suggestions?
Any help will be appriciated.

C heck your volume control settings. Sometimes the Mute checkbox is ticked
under the Microphoine setting.
