Messenger - Won't Load

Brand new Dell, Windows XP Pro. Messenger was working
fine for some time. I have 4.7 and 6.0 installed and
each fails to load. Eventually they come back with an
error message.

Funny thing is that if I log onto the same computer using
a different XP account Messenger works fine (same
Messenger/Passport account, different user on XP)

I have two of these computers - almost exactly the same
software on each and bought on the same day. Messenger
works just fine on the other.

I've checked msconfig, services and all seems to be in
order. I suspect a registry problem? Someone else
suggested that IE might be corrupt. Any ideas?

Any help would be appreciated. I've thought of deleting
the user account and recreating it -- should work. But
would be a pain for other already-installed software as
settings would likely disappear.

Thanks,
Cary

I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the tip, Alex.
Still seems like very odd behavior considering that it
once worked just fine.

I've posted a new note asking an MVP for help as they
seem to be ignoring this issue altogether but respond to
most of the other posts. Title is: "ATTN: Microsoft
MVP..". I saw that you re-posted as well. Let's hope
they at least try to take a swag at this annoyance.

Cheers,
C
