Messenger Versions - Remote Assistance

Just removed messenger V4.7 using Doug Knox MS-MVP's Messenger removal tool,
and then installed messenger 6.1.0211

When I ask for remote assistance I get the following:

"Your invitation was not sent because you need the latest version of Windows
Messenger to use the Remote Assistance feature. Please go to the Windows
Messenger update site to install the latest version."

If I follow the link I get the download for 4.7

XP PRO
ADSL Connection
ZA Pro
XP Firewall off

Ideas???

What you're seeing is by design and why you shouldn't completely remove Windows Messenger
4.7.

Remote Assistance requires Windows Messenger to be installed, and as such, the only solution
is to re-install Windows Messenger:

But I have messenger 6.1.0211 installed.... :-S

Why would I want to downgrade to 4.7

Hi,

You have MSN Messenger 6.1 installed, and you need to have Windows Messenger 4.7.

They are different products, and install separately -- there is no "upgrading" or
"downgrading".

Will I not end up with two messengers then ???
What happens if 4.7 signs in and 6+ signs in?
