Have installed XP SP2
now when I try to accept a conversation/ or start one, messenger crashes.
An error box comes up about explorer has an error and will close.
Anyone know what is going on?

Greetings Nero,

In the error that apologizes for the inconvenience of Messenger shutting down, click the
"click here" link -- in the next screen, you'll see something like the
following: szAppName : msmsgs.exe szAppVer : 4.7.2009.0 szModName : rpcrt4.dll

If you could reply back with what the szModName has in your error, would make it easier to
determine what the problem is.

Sorted it by installing version 5.0
Once I did that the problem went away.
Before it crashed if I tried to start a conversation or accept one.
It was OK until I installed SP2.

I have the exact same problem. Windows Messenger was
functioning fine before SP2 upgrade.
