messenger problems

i am having problems with my messenger. this is what it says.

what does this mean . all i know is that i cannot talk to any of my friends
on messenger . feel lost without this please help

Any luck in sorting this out. I am in the same situation. I get an error
message " Your computer does not have a sound card, or a sound card is not
selected." yet control panel reveals sound card is okay.

You must select an option other than 'None' when you are asked for Microphone
and Speakers in the Audio and Video Tuning Wizard.

I have no problem to use Messenger and to work with it.
I only get the same msg when I quit (terminate) Messenger :
