Messenger popups

Haven't had 2000pro installed for 2 hours and been getting messenger popups
from various websites, never had a problem before, can I get rid of these
annoying windows. These are text windows of some sort, I have never seen
any like this before.

Start | Settings | Control Panel | Adminstrative Tools | Services | Messenger | right-click choose stop | right-click choose Properties | set Startup type to Manual (dropdown) | OK. done.

You really should install a firewall as the system is still accessable
from the internet. All this did was to stop the PC from displaying the
message. You are still wide open to attacks.
