Messenger Live & Vista.

Hi,

Unable to get Messenger Live to connect.

I am pretty sure that it is doing something. It will logout MSN from another
machine (XP).

It must be vista (he says) because on the same router an XP machine logs in
fine.

Any clues (the program is allowed)???

Confuzzled!

Live Messenger works fine for me on Vista (32 bit, Business edition,
fresh install, not upgrade or OEM). Could be a firewall issue, although
I think the install configured the built-in firewall to let messenger
work (or at least I didn't have to do anything to it). Another thing to
check is that you can access web sites through Internet Explorer, and
that IE isn't set to "Work Offline" - I think messenger uses IE's
internet connection settings.

Live Messenger has a built-in tool to check the connection. Open the
Tools > Options menu, click "Connection" in the left panel, and then
Start the connection troubleshooter. That might be able to tell you what
the problem is.

Odd,

It says in the tests that it should connect.

And it knows when I have entered a wrong password - just will not connect
fully and show the contacts.

Be default during our upgrade, the upgrade advisor stated that MSN Live
Messenger maybe incompatiable with this version of windows. Ours works OK
and we can login everytime.

I'd look at your Firewall and 3rd party security programs to see if its
allowed. You can also try to remove and reinstall MSN Live. I'm not quite
sure what you can do after this point if all of your settings are correct.
