Messed up Administrator User Account

I had been asked to fix a computer after an employee made several changes.
After repairing the computer, I logged onto the administrator profile
(agyadm) and I attempted to change the user permission from "administrator"
for this user's log in (john) to "Power User". I did this in the computer
managerment under control panel. I made the following changes: added "john"
to the power user group, removed "john" from the administrator group, and saw
a new user group called "Johnscomp" which showed the log in permissions to be
"Administrator". I changed this to power user as well.

After making these three changes, i attempted to log off to verify the
changes worked properly. I selected log of user and the user name displayed
johncomp not agyadm which i logged on as. I immediately went back into the
computer managment to check the rights and names. I was denied access in
making any changes. My problem is the profile which was supposed to have
administrator rights no longer has administrator rights and now only has
power user rights along with john. How do I restore a profile with
administrator rights. I am unable to modify or create a profile with only
power user rights.

Thanks for any help

Logon as the built in administrator account to make necessary changes. It
sounds like you somehow may have removed the user account [or group you were
a member of] that you were logged on as from the local administrators
group. If the built in administrator password is not known see the link
below on how to proceed. Also keep in mind that depending on what the
employee did and his intentions you may simply want to reinstall the
operating system after backing up any necessary data on the system partition
first and making sure that any EFS encrypted files [if any] are first
decrypted.
