Messaging in a XP home network

Does anone know if there is messaging software built into Windows to
allow simple messaging between computers on a smal home network - like
"dinne's ready, switch off now" that sort of thing?

use winchat.
u need to have network dde and network dde dsdm service enabled for the
same.
