messages stuck in Outbox

Even after messages are sent they are stuck in the Outbox
(for attempted resending again one presumes). Outlook
send/receive progress says "unknown error (0x8004060C)"
even though they have definately gone. Can't delete them,
says: "messaging interface returns unknown error". Can't
modify them: :C: ... \Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst has reached its
maximum size."

Based on the error message it appears your .pst is at or near the 2gb limit.
There is also a remote possibility that you have hit an item limit. The
following article details .pst limits for Outlook 2000:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=208480

and for assistance with repairing the issue:

Hope that helps!!

Thank you!

Thankyou for your help. Yes, it would appear that
the .pst file is very close to the 2 gig limit. I have
blundered my way through the fix (I use Office XP, so the
instructions seem to be a little different)and I THINK
I've created a new file for any new email to be stored
in. But no matter what I do I cannot delete, cut, move,
copy...nothing...to the present messages (inbox,
outbox...everything). So I'm still stuck in this
situation where it can't do anything at all. Any ideas?
Thanks again.
