messages not being received

When I send a message from Windows messenger 5.0. The other person never get
it. it works about 50% of the time. It shows the other person as online.
Also I can get a message and reply back to it the other person never gets the
reply. ANY ideas>

Are you using the normal public .NET Messenger network or are you using a local (say
Exchange) server?
