Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client

I'm trying to import my old messages from Outlook 2000 into Outlook express
6. When I go to the Import tab in Express I get the error:

Messages cannot be imported from the MAPI clien

An error has occured

I searched the Knowledge Base and found an answer that seemed outdated (at
the bottom it said it related to Outlook Express 4).

Please help!
 
The Import fails if Outlook 2000 is not installed on the system.
