Message Stuck in Outbox OUtlook 2003

Hi All,
I have read all the postings that I was able to find in regards to this
problem, but either I am missing a step or just not doing it right because
the message is still in my outbox.
It is/was too large a file to send out and is stuck in the outbox. I have
taken Outlook offline, recreated a new pst, restarted a bazillion times,
tried dragging the message to another folder, and the only message I receive
is "cannot delete attempting to transmit"...it is offline when I get this
message and, again, after taking it offline (and disconnecting from the
internet) I did restart after 5/10 minutes as was previously suggested.
So, how do I get rid of the booger?

In which case I would do this...

1) Create a new Outlook mail profile with a new PST file
2) Start Outlook with this new mail profile
3) Open the old PST file via File > Open > Outlook Data file
4) Now you should be able to go to the outbox in the old PST file and delete
the message
5) Close the old PST file (right click on personal folders and select close)
6) Close Outlook

At this point, you can delete the profile created in step #1 and return to
old profile

PS - When you create the new mail profile, create it w/out any type of mail
account.

No, you did not create a new .pst file AND then use it as Outlook's
message store. A new .pst file would have *no* messages in it under any
folder. You are still using the old .pst which does have messages in
it, including the one stuck in the Outbox of *that* .pst file.

- Load Outlook.
- Put Outlook in offline mode (File -> Work Offline: enable).
- Exit Outlook.
- Load Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe /safe"). This ensures no
plug-ins get loaded when Outlook is loaded. Reloading Outlook in
offline mode means it won't touch the stuck item. If Outlook ever
touches the item, you cannot delete it.
- Delete the stuck item in the Outbox folder.
- Put Outlook in online mode (File -> Work Offline: disable).
- Exit Outlook.
- Reload Outlook.

Notice that I say to start in safe mode. It is possible a plug-in is
causing the problem so don't load it.

GREAT fix - I had same problem and your "fix" worked for me without going
into safe mode.
