Message: operating system not presently configured to run application

I am trying to run programs from XP Office Suite on my
Windows XP Home system and I get the error message: The
operating system is not presently configured to run this
application. Any suggestions?

Did you open office in the start tab from the start
menu,then register the software with microsoft.Also
open windows update,select,office update in the top
task-bar.You can also open event viewer for specific
errors/faults.
