message on startup that says user profile may be corrupted

Several days ago, I had to re-install windows due to a blue screen message
"Unreadable Boot Volume.." I did chdsk, and fixboot, etc etc.. and that was
able to get the pc booted. However, if I have to shut down the system, and
re-boot, i get a message which says that my "user profile may be corrupted,
and that any changes made will be lost"-there is no other option at that
point, but to click OK...then, when I get to the main windows screen, none of
my profiles are saved, my favorites are gone, folders like My Pictures are
gone-pics seem to be there, but not in that folder. How do I correct this
problem and get my profile back- the system is obviously not saving
anything-it does save programs like AOL, and SBC Yahoo, games I have on
there, etc. -any help with this????
