Message on Shut down of Windows

Everytime I shut down my computer, I receive a message
about ending a program that is still running
(wupdate.exe). I let the program end (I do not cancel)
and it then gives another message about ending a program
in my d: drive. I should have began by saying that a
game was installed and then uninstalled because it didn't
run properly just before this started happening. Does
anyone know how I can stop these messages from appearing
when I shut down? FYI, when I put the game CD Rom into
d: drive, it now does not respond to setup program, even
by trying to run it manually?? Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.
 
Do you have windows update set to automatically download
updates? (wupdate.exe)
