The Win XP client is connected thru his LAN card and the network and domain
connection function OK. Still the LAN adapter shows the red cross over the
icon and says "network cable disconnected", but it is not! Some tips?

Remove message in the system tray that the network cable
is unplugged.
Right click Start and select Properties.
On the Taskbar tab, click Hide inactive icons if it's not
already checked.
Click the Customize button.
Scroll down to find the Local Area Connection: network
cable is unplugged
item (it will only appear here if it has displayed in the
past).
In the dropdown box that appears when you click the item,
select Always
Hide.
Click OK/Apply and then OK.
