Message in Outbox is stuck. Can't send or delete it, or receive m

I wrote a message to someone for the first time. Maybe the address is wrong
or something, but anyway, the message is stuck there and I cannot delete it,
send it, or even receive e-mails. When I try and open the message, it tells
me that Outlook has already started sending the message and it cannot be
opened.

I cannot move it to another folder either. I would like to save it but
cannot do that either.

Maybe if I can find out where Outlook stores messages in the computer I can
delete it that way. I did a search for Outbox and couldn't find it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Thanks Diane for the reply. That sounded like it was exactly my problem,
although I'm not sure why because the file was not particularly large I don't
think. Unfortunately, even after following the directions, I still am unable
to send and receive or delete that e-mail. I created a new personal folder.
I tested the mail settings and they test out fine so it is not a problem with
the account passwords, etc. In fact I created two new personal folders and
neither time was successful. Outlook told me that I had successfully changed
the folder that would receive mail both times but still no go. I guess I
could re-install the whole program, but I don't want to go through all that
hassle of having to get all the amil account settings and address book etc.
copied. I'm not having success with that on another computer. Any other
suggestions? Thanks in advance.

More information. It seems that although the personal mail folder was
successfully changed, that outlook is still trying to send from the old
outbox folder because when I close outlook, I get the same message - There
are still messages in your outbox. Are you sure you want to exit? So it is
still reading the old outbox as the real outbox. Seems strange when it told
me clearly that the new settings were successful and would be applied next
time I start Outlook. I restarted it, but same thing.

I wasn't thinking once I tried to send an email with a huge attachment so my
email got stuck also. I believe to fix it, I disabled my network connection,
set the send/receive to manual so it wouldn't try to send the email, and then
I was able to delete my outbox.

Thanks. I tried that. I told the computer to work off line. I even set up
a whole new personal file folder for Outlook to use so it wouldn't try and
send the e-mail in the old outbox and that didn't work either so I'm a bit
confused. THanks for taking the time to answer anyway!
