Message delete problems - now problems with signatures

Signature problems

I followed the excellant tutorial to reset the system to get around the
problem of messages that couldn't be deleted, but now, if I try and use a
signature Mail bombs out and if I try and amend an existing signatute or add
a new one, when I click apply, Mail bombs out again
 
It would help to get a more refined description rather than "mail bombs
out". Its hard to tell what is going on.
