Twice in the past 6 months, an e-mail message has popped-up as: "Message
could not be displayed"...It has been impossible to delete, move, or
otherwise eliminate...

I know am sure of the cause: In double-clicking Windows Mail, somehow the
effort of both Mail systems competing against each other has caused the
latest e-mail received to go into that permanent sleep mode...

Now I need to know how to fix it...Suggestions?

It is not at all clear what you mean by "both Mail systems competing
against each other..." What two mail systems?

If any message can't be moved or deleted, apply this Microsoft fix:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941090
Although that article only mentions Outbox, it works for all mail folders.

Incidentally, that fix was also included in Vista's SP1, so if you haven't
installed that, you are long overdue.
