'Message cannot be found' problem

Victor Delta

Occasionally when I try to open an email I get the message:
Message cannot be found
The contents of this message cannot be found.
Windows Mail

Does anyone know what causes this or how it can be cured?

Never had the same problem with Outlook Express...

This can happen when a message was deleted by your
antivirus program, but WM's database was not updated to reflect
that deletion.

Windows Mail seems to be overly sensitive to corruption from
antivirus programs, and is definitely incompatible with most
McAfee and Norton antivirus programs. If you are using either
of those latter two, it is best to uninstall and replace with a
more compatible antivirus, such as the free version of Avast:

Another solution is to upgrade to the less buggy Windows Live
