Message balloon not displaying any more

I recently installed Windows XP Home Edition. At first the message balloons
from activity in the system tray would pop up. Suddenly they no longer
display. For example, if I have a removeable device connected to a USB port
and click the icon to stop the device and remove it, the balloon no longer
pops up telling me when it is okay to unplug the device. I don't know if I
accidentally clicked on something or checked a do not show this again box,
but I cannot figure out how to make these messages display again. Can someone
tell me how?
Thank you.

mmm, can you connect a usb pendrive? after you have conncted it,
does it correctly functions

I have a flash drive that I use, and when I connect it to my PC, yes it
functions correctly. When I want to remove it I click on the icon in the
system tray and click to remove the drive. The message never pops up telling
me it is okay to remove the device.
No messages ever pop up. At first after I installed XP they did. For some
reason they have stopped. Is there a way to turn that option back on?

Thank you.
