Shutting off the Helper balloons

How do i shut off the balloons that pop up from the systme
tray that says things like "dun" is connected at 10
bps/sec or networkcable unplugged? I am not talking about
the icons those are good but the balloons that popup
anouncing them!!@!@!#$!@!@!

any help would be great thanks!!!

Go to the following key in your registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advance
d

Once there look for an entry called EnableBallonTips. If it is not there,
right click in the righthand pane and choose to create a new DWORD value and
call it EnableBalloonTips. In either case, right click on that value and
modify it and set the value to 0. Cheers.

There is an option to disable Balloon tips as well as a lot of other useful
tweaks that can keep you from needing to edit registry keys.

Hi,

For internet related issues, right click Network
Places/Properties/Connection in question/Properties and uncheck Show icon in
notification area.

To rid of only the Balloon Tips (which only the Notification Areas ones can
be removed, which excludes the Quick Launch Bar and Taskbar):

Disable Balloon Tips or Disable All (Row 11)

Disable All includes: Balloon Tips, Folder Contents Info Tips, Explorer
Pop-Ups, Show Info Tips, Start Menu and Notification Area.

To use the Regedit: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it
and answer yes to the import prompt. REG files can be viewed in Notepad by
right clicking on the file and selecting Edit.
