Merging Word Documents with Split Database

I have recently split my access database using Albert Kallal's excellent
article and as suggested have FE on each workstation .mde.

I have also copied several Word documents linked to the database to each
workstation assuming that this would be necessary and that these could be
linked to each FE. Hwever, this does not seem to be the case, can anyone out
there help?

Need a little more information. How are you using the word documents?
Are you doing mailmerge or just linking to them?

They are linked using Open Data Source. I have no problem with this normally
and before I split the database this worked fine. My problem is that now I
have split the database, a workstation with a FE, made mde as suggested, the
user is unable to link Word documents in this way.
