merging contacts on Outlook

I have a Plam Treo. Often when I hot sync I get some duplicate contacts.
Later when I pull up a duplicated contact I sometimes misstakenly add
information (usually notes) to one or the other or both. Therefore I cannot
simply go in a delete one of the dupes. Is there a way to merge them so that
all information is retained.

Merge? Not really. But there are duplicate checkers - see
www.sperrysoftware.com for one option.

That said, if you're constantly getting dupes when syncing, you ought to
address that problem first. Make sure you're using the latest version of
Palm Desktop/Hotsync, latest firmware on your Treo, and if you're using a
third party sync conduit like Chapura or Pocketmirror, that you have the
latest version of that, too. If you sync your Palm to more than one PC, that
may be related. I'd check with tech support on this one.
