Merge separate PPT files into one single PPT file.

Hi,

1. Is there a way to merge slides from individual PPR files into one
combined PPT file, without having to open each individual PPT file?

2. The reason I need this is because I have 50 - 70 one-slide PPT files that
are auto-updated from a database. They have to be one-slide per PPT file in
order for the auto updating to work.

3. However, in order to publish PPT slides to the SharePoint slide library,
all the slides need to be merged into one PPT file, or I would have to Open
and Publish each of the 50 - 70 one-slide PPT files separately in order to
publish them to the library. SharePoint does not allow publishing a batch
of PPT files together to a SharePoint slide library, even though it does
allow multiple Word document files to published as a batch of files of doc
files.

4. Hence, I need some sort of utility, or PowerPoint VBA code, that would
allow me to build a multiple-slide PPT file from 50 - 70 individual
one-slide PPT files without having to open each individual PPT file to do
the merge.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Alan

Steve,

Thanks for your reply.

I can't do that, because the auto-updating requires the slides to be updated
on local computer. There is no way of preserving the database links once
slides are in SharePoint.

However, the link you indicated may work.

Thanks.

Alan

Hi Alan,

One approach would be turning the problem on its head. As I understand
it,
when you add a presentation to a SharePoint slide library, the
presentation
gets broken up into individual PPT files, one slide each.

If you can do your updates on these, within SharePoint's slide collection,
wouldn't that solve the problem directly?

Otherwise, have a look here; this might be adaptable to your needs:

Insert all slides from a group of presentations into the current
presentation
