Merge Field w/Date

In Word 2003 when using Mail Merge on a form, one of the merge items is a
date. The data source is an Excel spreadsheet where the cell is formatted as
text and the date manually typed as March 1, 2009 but when it's merged into
the Word form the date comes out as 3/1/2009. Is there a way to change the
date format of that merge field?

how to add the appropriate switch to your mergefield. In this case, you want
\@ MMMM d, yyyy.
