Merge - Excel to Word - Excel contains Chinese wording

I have a question about the Chinese wording to be shown in Mail Merge
function.

The situation is that:
1. I use Excel(Mac) to build up a database-like records, with proper column
heading and contents. The records may contains Chinese Wording.

2. Now, I use the Merge Data Manager function under Word(Mac). I could be
able to follow all steps being instructed. When asking for the Data Source,
yes I take to open a data source and then click to import from point 1's
excel worksheet.... everything go fine and data is able to be
imported/captured.

3. Once the final step "Merge" to New Document (as I would like to have a
look the result before). The function did it for me and able to show the
merged document properly page by page.

The question is that how come the merged document cannot show CHINESE
WORDING, they use "???" to represent for fields its original is Chinese
wording. It is perfect in showing the English wording.

The Merge Data Manager work fine BUT ONLY CAN'T SHOW CHINESE WORDING AFTER
MERGED. WHY???????
This Mac o/s is an English base but I could be able to input Chinese via the
Inputting Method, on the top right corner there is a flag for me to switch
between. That is, for normal document, work in Chinese on word is OKAY.

I don't know how can I be able to do the merge and show the end result with
English and Chinese as well.

I can't work on both eMAC and iBook G4.

anyone please explain to me and teach me how to resolve this question.

Sorry. This is a newsgroup dedicated to questions about Access, the
database program in Office Professional. It appears your question may not
be related to these subjects. The Microsoft help system is not all that
clear and may have misdirected you here.

It is best to ask your questions in a newsgroup dedicated to the
subject of your question. You should find people better able to address
your problem there.

Note: It is always best to indicate the name and version of any
program(s) you may be using when asking a question and also indicate the
operating system (like Windows XP or 98) when you ask a question.
