memory stick not found sometimes

I am using XP SP2. My memory stick and camera worked fine until about a
week ago. I have a usb extention chord hooked to a usb multiple outlet hub
that I keep attached to the computer and just plug in devices when needed.
My computer no longer recognizes my camera or memory stick through the hub
and chord. But it does recognize the devices if they are directly hooked to
the computer. Then if I reattach the hub and chord to the computer and then
reattach the camera/stick to the hub it is recognized. It seems like the
computer needs to be jump started. Everything works properly on my computer
at work so I didn't think it was a bad chord or hub. Nothing has been
downloaded recently at home except antivirus software updates. I have
searched this site and the only posts I've found are for memory sticks that
couldn't be found at all, but I will try some suggestions that were given
when I get home tonight.

If you have System Restore available for a date prior to the start of the
problem, this might help.
