I have an assembled PC and the box containing CPU is an old model. Is
there some external appliance / hardware available to which I could
insert my camera Stick directly to the PC rather than going via the
camera connected through USB root?

Many would recommend an external memory card dock instead of the camera.
Easy to move from computer to computer and, as it's modest power needs
are supplied by the USB port, the dock doesn't hasten the discharge of
batteries the way a camera does. The memory card appears as a "drive" in
Windows Explorer, so you just use drag and drop to copy the pictures to
the hard drive. These USB devices are available at many computer outlets
for a modest price. Most have multiple slots in order to accommodate
different memory card/stick types.

Thanks for guidance. I would like to go for a multiple slot external
memory card dock.
